Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations

Gyan Devi Salwan Public School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti on 4th October,2016 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the father of our nation-Mahatma Gandhi  with great zeal and enthusiasm. The assembly began with a rendition of bapu's favourite devotional song Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram. A skit was presented by the students which depicted important movements of Gandhi ji like Champaran, Non- Cooperation, Dandi March and Quit India. It gave a glimpse of Gandhiji’s life and principles.The school principal, Ms. Mukul Jha enlightened all the students about the matchless political leader who led the nation to freedom. The assembly ended with the Gandhi ji’s last words “HEY RAM” resonating in the air.

To provide students an insight into the heritage club activities. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION The heritage club activity was conducted on 22 nd May, 2015. The students were made aware of the meaning of heritage and its various types. They were asked some general questions on what they know about the heritage of India. The students were also asked to share their the purpose and the objective of joining the Heritage Club. They were then asked to make an Ad on how they can conserve the Natural Heritage. OUTCOMES The students showed enthusiasm in learning more about India’s rich heritage. They showed their creativity by preparing the Ad work.

Cherishing India’s freedom

Cherishing India’s freedom August 15, 1947  is the day engraved in gold in the history of India. It is the day when India attained its freedom from the clutches of a long slavery of over 200 years of the British Rule. It was a long and hard struggle in which many freedom fighters and great men laid their lives for our beloved motherland. To celebrate the 71st Independence Day and 75years of Quit India, the students of  Gyan Devi Salwan Public School celebrated the month of August as the Social Science Month. A plethora of activities were planned to celebrate our Independence, Our Heritage, Our beautiful Culture. Three Intra Class Activities were conducted from Classes VI-XI. The students were shown a video on how our constitution was drafted and framed, the purpose of the preamble was explained and the students were asked to learn the preamble along with the guiding values, a short quiz was also conducted after the discussion. Regarding students as active seekers of knowledge by throwing light on the multiplicity of history and cultural experiences that exists in India and in an attempt to wet student’s appetite for historical inquiry, the Dharohar club conducted activities like creating Dharohar membership cards, Dharohar song and pottery workshop in the month of April – May.
